Why not just remove your impeller, cut the old wear ring out, place new one in the freezer and just drop it in?

Why not just remove your impeller, cut the old wear ring out, place new one in the freezer and just drop it in?

Cutting the wear ring out is what the shop manual says to do, and I've done it that way before. There are a few reasons we do it our way, including: 1) I hate cutting the wear ring out because there's always the chance of damaging the pump while doing so; 2) It saves a step by doing it our way; and 3) It saves you from having to buy an impeller removal tool.
