I purchased a jet pump housing for a 98 speedster. It seems like they sent me the wrong one. Take a look at the picture and tell me what you think. Look at the diameter where the bearings and shaft are mounted

I'm in the exact same boat, no pun intended. I've sent and email out the place I bought the jet pump housing from to see if its as simple as putting new cones on it. As far as I can tell that would solve our problem.

In 98 the Speedster got the new Large hub pump and in 99 the other boats got it IIRC and so did the RFI powered skis. The older pumps have a much smaller hub. While the smaller will work, you should really use a small hub impeller. You shouldn't mix and match between the 2 pumps. 99% of places have no idea of this switch in 98, the dealer would, but the aftermarket doesn't really. Which is obvious, you got the wrong pump housing.

Here you can see the hub difference in the impellers

What boat do you have? Please put it in your watercraft list in your profile. Makes life a little easier when were trying to help.

Will the bigger hub impeller work on the smaller housing. I'm kind of in a bind here and hate to have to buy a new impeller

SBT needs to make good on their end. There is a reason Seadoo switched to the big hub pumps on the boats in 98. They need the better bottom end with that pump. You potentially could have cavitation issues with the smaller hub pump. I would not compromise on the pump no if ands or buts about it. If it means you miss out you miss out.

SBT sent me a new housing. It's actually the same small housing I received in the first place but it came with the correct anti rattle nose cone.

It's not the right one, you need to send them pics. They're selling the wrong item and need to be made aware of it.

What's wrong with the original one , why did you replace it?

I know SBT makes it easy and not many people might possibly not know about www.osdparts.com but from them you can get an OEM housing with an OEM wear ring plus the newer OEM anti rattle cone and all the other parts (aftermarket) LESS an impeller for wait for it............$40 LESS with free shipping(possibly) from OSD vs. SBT. And if you don't need the impeller tool, subtract another $10 (check list below description) for $50 in savings. Oh, and you the the CORRECT pump housing to boot, not a one size fits all from SBT. I have found many times SBT will use and older part # because they don't know it was updated, so how can you assume you would be getting the correct updated version? Personally, I would want the correct parts on my boat, I'm not willing to settle. Seadoo changed the pump for a reason, SBT kept it the same for a reason-----inventory one part to make money.
