My new Utopia 205 has been at the dealer for nearly three weeks but I just got great news!! They think it will be ready tomorrow. Better yet, Seadoo authorized the dealer to take me for a sea trial since I never got to sea trial the boat in NC where I bought it. I'm rather excited since I've had the boat for a five weeks and four of those weeks the boat was at the dealer.

So, tomorrow I take it out for the second time, only this time I bring the technician who's been working on it. My guess is I'll still have an intermittent vibration noise to resolve but hopefully he will be able to identify it. Hoping to find everything else in perfect working order. BTW, the gel coat cracks by the windshield screws and bow cupholder were repaired as well. Seadoo authorized everything. So far I'm impressed with how they've treated me.

I'll try and report back Saturday night.

Congratulations, that's fantastic that they were able to get everything taken care of in one trip (except the vibration). It sounds like this dealer really cares about their service. Have fun and take a few more pictures. I would really like to see some of the gel coat cracks, as I've never seen how they repair things like that.

That is great news Craig. The weather here has been a bit nasty here anyway, so no foul really. Let us know how you make out.

The Utopia is back home at last!!

The Sea trial went grood. The fuel gauge works, the new shifter works, the small door under the helm was replaced and now stays closed, The high frequency vibration at the dashboard if fixed.

The intermittant vibration at idle speed is still there as they mechanic couldnt determine what was going on until yesterdays sea trial. While I idled the boat away from the boat ramp he opened the engine compartment and thinks the issue is coming from the output shaft of the port engine. He explained it to me but I'm not 100% certain I understand. He says where the output shaft exits the engine area and goes through the transom there is a rubber boot and some kind of Carbon ring?? He says he thinks this is ocillating possibly due to a slight mis-alignment in either the engine or pump. He also said it is possible this may break-in and go away all together. We discussed a course of action and we both agreed that come the 10 hour service if it still does this he will address it.

The new shifter assembly works great! WAY better than the original. We observed the boat moves a little "forward" when locked in nuetral so when we got back to the dealer following the sea trial he made a small adjustment to the gate cable so I hope its a little better on my next outing.

The Gelcoat repair is AWESOME. You cannot tell...period!

I have to say that while I was getting a little anxious to get my boat back I am happy with Barneys in St. Pete. Joe the technician is a great guy and pretty passionate about what he does. I am left with the sense he really takes pride in his work. I highly recommend Barneys of St. Pete!!!

BRP has really supported Barneys every step of the way. I can assure everyone here that BRP has made no money on my boat. In fact they are probably in the red by a large margin yet they are standing behind what they sold. I am very impressed how BRP has never once flinched at any repair Barneys wanted to initiate. In some cases they requested photos before approving but in every case they authorized repair and even paid Barneys to take me on a sea trial. I'm told that rarely happens. BRP Rocks!:grouphug:

I heard from my selling dealer in NC that my Bimini top and seat strap I've been waiting on are on they're way so now all I'm waiting on is the under seat storage bin then I'm complete. Its been a process dealing with this boat but considering I have under $15,000 in this new 2007 Utopia 205 I am still glad I bought it even in these economic times.

That is great news... It makes you feel good when a large company has it's dealers stand behind their product and satisfy the customer.

Great!......

Man, it seems like you got a great deal.....!:hurray:

I also love to hear when a dealer is taking care of their clients. Especially when Seadoo gets involved to help out.

As for the shifter, keep in mind that neutral is a fine balance between thrust being directed to the rear and forward directions of the boat. So, even if you get it steady, if rpms change by just 100 rpm, will so then will the drift of the boat. The boat has a shaft that always moves in one direction verses an outboard that the prop actually stops turning.

The oscillating of the shaft? Sounds like a mis alignment of the engine to pump. Will is go away in 10 hours. I kinda doubt it. Once the engine and pump have been installed, they should create no resonance vibration. The carbon ring is just a seal. Not something that would cause vibration unless the engine was not "trued" in...............so, cheers to the boat performance and the obvious good sevice you've got from a dealership. Use their name often in the forum. They deserve it!...........
