Satellite uplink?

So I took out my "new" 2010 seadoo 210 today. There was a green light on the instrument cluster. Looked it up and seems to be a satellite uplink indicator. Since the light was green I kept going. So I'm aware it's not a problem but what is the function? Is it simply for the compass?

Also I was a bit surprised by the speed or I suppose lack there of. It's a 315hp unit and I was topping at about 47 mph. Does this seem normal? I had an older seadoo challenger 1800 last year that I would swear was faster. I get there is a huge difference but I thought I'd see some performance increase.

Newer Sea-Doos are using a GPS based speed sensor instead of mechanical one. This light indiicates that it has the lock and the speed supposed to be more accurate.

Thanks vlad... I'd say it is a bit more accurate as I was also using a GPS to determine my speed. It wasn't dead on in fact it was showing me slightly slower than my gps was. When I saw a light come on I was a bit nervous but any light that is green has got to be ok lol.

Anyone comment on the speeds as mentioned above?

I say it is right as well. Your older boat used the factory installed "dream-o-meter". They always read faster than what you were actually going.

I just bought a 2010 challenger 210 as well, and 47 is what min e has been able to do. Are you also seeing the green "sync" light in the starboard tach? It shows the engine rooms being synchronized. I saw that light the first day out, but since then, it has not been on. There is about 150 to 200 rpm difference between the engines. Still troubleshooting that.

The GPS indicator is how the cruise control and ski modes work. The cruise control is not just setting an rpm on the engines, but rather tracking the boat speed by GPS and then adjusting the rpms as necessary to keep the boat at the set speed-even through turns. Very cool.

I've only had my 2010 210 430hp in the water a couple times but it hit 52 in a stiff wind and heavy chop. I assume your speed is right. I have basicly the same question about the light though. Mine has an analog speed gauge that doesnt always work and i thought it had something to do with that light and sync mode.

Those are separate functions. On my 2010, the satellite light indicates the GPS is locked and that the speedometer is getting its speed data from the GPSr. If that light is not on, the boat is guessing the speed based on RPM. The analog gauge should work either way.

Sync mode is a separate function that doesn't always work for me. My engines are always within about 200 RPM of each other, and Synced completely (equal RPM) on some days. Other days, sync doesn't happen. Nothing is mentioned in the 2010 manual, but the 2012 shop manual says that water/wind conditions can be a factor and that the lack of a sync light does not indicate an error condition. That made me feel a lot better.
