I'am interested in this ski, my buddies ride rxp-x and i dont want one of those cuz of cost and also it is my first ski, sooo i have found some good deals on the 215 hp and i like this ski, anyone have any feedback on this ski???

SCIC...supercharged intercooled....

This is the supercharged intercooled model 4-TEC. This is a really fast machine. For the first several years, it's gonna be nice, nible and fast. But...

For me and "only in my opinion", in the past, I've stayed away from engines that go to the extremes. The reason way is maintenance. The 4-TEC engines are just as fast as the supercharged, they just get to top speed before everyone else. When you add "extra" sub systems, then your increasing the risk of double the maintenance down the road. In my years of playing with high performance engines, they just don't seem to last very long.

Please, if you like the ski and think it's really sharp, don't let my opinion affect your decision. I'm a very simple minded person and have never elected to have super or turbo charged engines. That's just me. As for the SC or SCIC engines, thus far, outside of the ceramic thrust washers, I've heard of no major issues and seems all really love to ride them, so, make an informed decision as to what you want and go have fun!...........

"Ceramic thrust washers" whatchutalkinbout seadoosnipe?? LOL are these upgradeable?? so is there an aftermarket part that will hold up better ??

Slipe clutch....

The superchargers spin up to 45,000 rpm. When the throttle response changes quickly, the supercharger can't change with the crank, so they have a set of slip washers for this. The first chargers had the ceramic washers, which are the best since they don't retain heat from friction, but to many owners were going to the synthetic oils and causing damage to the SC. So, in the newer models, Bombardier went to all steel slip washers. They can be retro-fit to all the models, since the 4-TEC engines are pretty much unchanged since it's inception.

Yes, the new steel washers hold up better....

SOOOO, if i werwe to get a new '06 rxp 215hp, i could get the steel washers? or will '06's already have em? where would i get these and does anyone have a part number??? thanks for you help

Ceramic....

No, chances are, if you get a new RXP, you'll be getting the charger with the ceramic washers. If it's new, you may be able to negotiate a change out to the steel clutch washers in the price. You know, wheel and deal for it.

If not, you can purchase the heavy duty steel, high performance washers from Riva Yamaha. They have an online, high performance parts catalog for the Seadoo watercraft and are well known for their Riva high performance modification stage 1,2 and 3 kits. If the link will work, this is the link to your steel washers you'll want for your RXP....http://www.rivayamaha.com/RivaStore...IVA Heavy-duty SD Supercharger Clutch Washers

Good luck,.......let us know what you decide!........

A couple of questions - I have on '05 RXP. If I run this thing until the ceramic washers wear out, will them wearing out cause damage to other parts?

Basically, would it be cheaper in the long run to go ahead and change the washers now?

Any idea what the labor would cost to have these changed out?

yes your engine and oil pump will go, considering its like total of $140 to not worry about it I would highly suggest it,

friend of mine has a rxp, I believe it was one of the first models. that green color they used. he has about 100 hours on it and no problems. I have a new rxtx and this thing is wicked. I just love it, too bad I can only ride it for few monhts of the year.

Hi, thanks all for the info. I have a RXT-X 08 model. Are they still selling these with the ceramic washers? If so, any ideas on how to change them out yourself?:)
