Hello everyone this is my 1st post here, lots of great info here!!
Heres my problem. I just picked up a 99 spx. Its in really nice shape.
It runs good. I had a 96 gti last summer and when i would put the laynard on it beeped 2 times. This ski starts up no problem but dosnt beep. I checked the 5 amp fuze and it was fine. all the connections looked good. Im thinking the buzzer might be bad? Where is it located and how can i check it?
ALSO. the fuel gauge isnt working. I checked all the connections from the tank to the gauge. everything seems to be connected and in order. I have heard something about pushing start 5 times to reset it or something??

well thanks for the info i really appreciate it!

beeeep or not?

ok so i did a little reading. let me see if i am correct. The beep actually comes from the thing the dess clips onto? If i buy a new beeper will i need to reprogram anything or will it work ok?

Welcome to the seadoo forum. The beeper might be bad. It is cheaper to buy one at Radio Shack. Use a multi meter to check it with the DESS connected. The beeper doesn't need to be reprogramed. Only the lanyard cap has a rom chip in it that's programed to the MPEM.
Here is the way to check the fuel tank for resistiance.
Checking sending unit resistance;

You need to check the Pink and Pink/Black wire coming out of the baffle tube in the gas tank. The sending unit works off resistance. Pull the plug apart at the tank, and use an ohm meter to check for resistance between the two pink wires. The resistance will be different depending on how much fuel is in the fuel tank. If you get no resistance, remove the clamps off the sender, and pull the sending unit out of the fuel tank. Check the magnets on the float in the sending unit. To get to the float out, pop the bottom off and look for the 4 magnets on the float. If they are missing use a strong magnet to get them out of the tank bottom. If they are dirty clean them and re-insert it back in the baffle tube and check the wires again to check for readings of resistance depending on where the float is in the baffle tube. If still no reading of resistance replace the sender. If you get readings, check continuity of wiring to gauge. If all wiring checks out ok the gauge is bad. Keep me posted on your progress.

beeper...?

The beeper isn't part of the post, it's a small electrical device of it's own. Usually mounted directly near the post. Mine is under the dash, hidden from plain view. It's about as big as a silver dollar..........

alright i looked for the beeper no such luck. where do the wires that connect from the beeper go to? the dess wires go into the box in the front of the hull
but i dont see anything mounted on the inside that looks like a silver doller or whatever
any pics or anything??

found it. it was in the handlebars.
i checked it on a 12v source it poped a few times then worked great. hooked it back up it worked for 3 tries and now it just makes a faint poping noise???
any ideas??

Replace it....

You can replace it for little or nothing. I think it was KustomKarl who said he got one from Radio Shack.

Take it along with you and tell them it's a beeper that operates on a 12 vdc system. Make sure they know its a beeper, not a buzzer.

If you have no luck, you can order one online.
