Hello Seadoo Forum people!
Took the '96 challenger out on lake washing machine (washington) for the first time to stretch her legs from storage.

WELL she ran great for a good 40 minutes or so, and then crapped out.
RAVE valves and caps appear to be melted, and we were able to putt it back on one cyl at 1500rpm give or take. (took about 2hrs, but got it back)
doesnt want to start up, but giving a little gas gets it going for a second, but keeps wanting to die.
Runs solid on one cylinder, and doesnt make any noises that to me seem out of the ordinary.

HALP!

Ive searched and searched, and unfortunately just dont know enough about these ROTAX engines to know any better than to post (long time forum admin for preludepower.com, so resist this urge -- appologies in advance if im being a dumdum here)

Any help diagnosing this is appreciated. Im going to do a compression today, but figured id see what kind of theories are out there for this issue.

A couple things I would check did the blade break off and score the piston or is there just to much clearance between the shaft of the valve blade and housing. Check compression in the cylinder that the rave melted on.

The rave valve melts the plastic piston and bellow when the clearance between the housing and rave valve becomes to much causing exhust gas to melt them.

Now you have two choices rebuild the top end only so you don't have to remove the engine. Or rebuild the whole thing I have good luck with sbt I have a engine that has 40 plus hours on it still running strong.

Take the two Allen bolts out on the housing and remove the rave valve blade in the cylinder look down the hole and I bet you see the problem.
