Running engine off a hose

Planning on getting both engines started up this week and letting them run for 10 minutes to check they work ok. Before I do this, I've read the manual on how to lock off the water and to start engine before turning water on etc but I just want to check it'll be ok to run them that long with the boat out of water. Is there anything im missing or need to do?

Ten minutes is a bit long, as the carbon seals aren't being cooled. Do you have a boat launch near by? Could always leave the boat secured to the trailer, in the water, and let them run that way.

The hose system is a FLUSH thing. The water flows in reverse of how it normally goes when in the water and the pump is cooling the engine. The FLUSH system is designed to flush out debris such as sand without it going all the way through your engine. It is NOT designed to efficiently cool your engine. Ten minutes is too long.. It really should be less than 1 (one) minute.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll have to plan a trip down a slip instead I think. Was hoping I could run it until both engines warmed up to see if there were any issues with them before I risk taking it out on the lake.
