Rotary Valve Question

I have a 1997 Gti with a 717 Engine In the shop and my Mechanic tells me I need to replace the Rotary Valve. It currently Has a 159 degree valve in it but the stock valve is 132 degree.

I am wondering whats difference from 159 degree valve and a 132 degree valve? Does it enhance the performance? What is the highest degree that can be put on the 717 engine?

think, mechanics', try'n to make fast buck....use the 159*. Who says/said, it has a 132*
Get ski back, get/have the 159*, and set it at 147*opening, 65*closing, using the downloadable degree wheel, on this site...somewhere(search tab).

Only the SP had the 132 degree valve in 97. Stick with the 159 degree valve.
