Rotary Valve Indexing 92 XP

New question..92 Seadoo XP dual carb....pulled the carbs (with rotary valve housing) and found no 'o' ring sealing the housing to the crank case....is that correct? I also inadvertantly removed the rotary valve disk without marking it..how do I re-index it to get it timed correctly?

Turns out that I have a boat mechanic who told me how to do it....
Take the spark plugs out. Turn the motor over by hand to TDC on the front cylinder. Find the 'cut' mark on the rotary valve housing below and to the front of the front intake port---the mark is just outside where the 'o' ring seals the housing...the valve disk is installed with the open side up and the front end lined up with the mark....
