Hi. I have a 2008 230 challenger se. I was tubing and the rope went into the left engine and got sucked in. Engine won't start. Rope won't pull out. What's the best way to get the rest of the two rope out of the impeller shaft? Would like to avoid taking it out of the water

Really the best way is to put the boat on the trailer and work on it. Unless you have scuba gear.

Wow, that just happen to me today and it cost me $200 to get it fixed by the Sea Doo mechanic. It only took him 10 min to repair it. All you have to do is take the water pump out on the back of the boat and the propeller will come out of the shaft. Pull the rope out and put everything back together. You have to take like 8 bolts out. Had I know it was that easy I would have safe the $200 dollars. Ahhh, not to mention that I cut my $50 rope with a knife.

I hope this helps!

I have cut a rope out of the drive shaft with a dive mask and knife whilst stuck in the middle of the lake. Took about 10 minutes and many breaths!

I had 75ft of rope stuck in there. Believe me we did the same but we couldn't get it all out with a knife.

Has happened to me a few times now. What I do is pull the spark plugs, rotate the engine backwards with hand on pot flywheel (4 stroke probably don't have one) then swim under, stand upside down with feet on button of boat and pull hard. Usually takes a few tries but it will turn the engine in reverse and allow the rope to come out.

Next time it happens PLEASE have someone take a pic or video of this event. A picture is worth a thousands words. :)
