Guys,

I suck in the rope and I can't get it out without taking Intake Grate. Can anyone tell me how can I do that? I took the 3 bolts out and the first 2 seems like attached somewhere in the engine compartment. I can't find those washer or lock info in the Service Manual. Any suggestion or help would be appreciated.

lol.. while I was going thru Service Manual. My dad came inside.. pay me $90 per hour.. Your rope is out HAHA... Old man still teaching me how to do thing right way..

i looked and found something sgoyal..

here is an important excerpt:

Your problem with the front bolt is because it goes all the way through the boat. You'll need someone to be on the inside to hold a wrench on that nut, while the other works the bolt out from the bottom.

please read the entire link sorry this happened Sgoyal.

Thanks man.... My old man took it out - I gotta take him out to dinner now.

He removed the rope without taking intake grate off...he got so much patience I guess

This will be the second time I have posted this quote at the forum...

My dad has always told me. "two heads are better than one even if one is a pecker head..."

Ol man knowledge is generally a winner. Looks like it cost you dinner..

I couldn't find those two bolt inside the hull (engine compartment).it'd be nice to know for the future reference.

Here's what I know.

He slides under the boat. Tools he had some old metal hanger and he twisted that to make as a hook. First he cuts the rope to managable to go around that pipe. He would push the wire up with left hand and used right hand (hanger) to grab that rope.. as soon as he able to grab it.. he started going that in round and round... If I knew that he could do that , I'd have made a video

Lol sounds like my father! Although removing the plugs and rotating the engine the other way is a good idea!

sgoyal - wow, impressive!! That is some father you got there! :D
smc0922 - Remove spark plugs? How do you rotate the engine backwards?

sgoyal,

How did you idle back to the launch area? This always scares me since we only have one engine? thanks

We were not too far from the launching area, may be less than a half mile. We had a clamp in the boat that we used on the exhaust pipe as our manual says so. On top of that, we towed around 5mph.

Once my father removed the rope, I made sure boat starts (fraction of second).. no water out of the exhaust pipe..

My brother was laughing, you just winterize it.

Well, you know I posted this a long time ago when I had my Sportster and it quit on me in the middle of the Colorado River.. and then they opened the dam... it was horrid...

This is what im buying and I dont care if anyone laughs at me, im going to have it stored in either my storage area in the back or in the front:

Its just going to be there for emergency purposes only, if anything ever happens I could attach it anywhere, fast and I know it would only go 2 mph it doesnt matter. Of course this would not work if your battery completely dies, but 99% of the time I got stuck out in the water was because either something got stuck in my intake grate or driveshaft or whatever.

I just helped someone get towed back, he ran out of gas, he was by himself, no cell phone, he didnt have anything, he was nuts too, he almost jumped out too early without a life vest on? I told him are you kidding? you know accidents happen so sudden and fast.. I was like? wow.. so I helped him though... my 2cents!

Also I like the design of this troll motor, it looks like I can extend the connecting mechanism and set it up on the port side of the boat in the cup holder and the battery is right behind me..
