I thought it was strange that the last time I used my boat it ran fine. Then today, I launched it, let it warm up for a few than went almost wot. I got the dreaded continuous beep until I shut down. I re-started, put in reverse then back again, and never heard the beeping again. However I did then experience the port engine reving to almost redline out of the hole, while the starboard engine was only at like 5-6000 rpm. About 5 seconds later they would equalize, however the starboard engine was always 500 rpm faster.
When I got it back on the trailer, I inspected the two intake grates etc, nothing. Then I found the culprit, 3 golf ball size rocks lodged behind the fins of the impeller housing! (See pic)
Am I to assume this was the cause of the initial beep? The manual says there are only 3 reasons to cause this, high engine coolant, high exhaust temp and low/high oil pressure...... Could there be more crud in the exhaust output?
and yes, the edges of the impeller are now roughed up.....
