I have had my 1999 1800 Challenger for two years now. I have noticed from the start that the port (left) motor is almost like an assist to the starboard (right). Neither motor (or pump ?) on it's own is strong enough to get on a plane but the right is close while the left is pathetic. The motors both turn the same RPM, both the prop liners have been changed and clearance checked and both pumps have the same configuration/ cone set up. The only difference is the left motor (weak one) has a newer plastic pump housing and the right one has the older brass one. Is the noticable power difference a Sea Doo thing or is something amis?

either motor by themselves, will not get the boat to plane, you'll need both motors.

I have the same boat . I have never tried running on just one motor for fear of flooding the other motor. What is your top speed and are both motors turning the same rpm when up to speed. If one is not pushing the same as the other would you not have a push to one side when steering.I am presently changing the wear rings and carbon seals and impellers should have them done and back in the water next weekend.

Hi Guys
I have a 1998 gsx ltd, I bought it used last year and the previous owner just did a top end rebuild. I went out on the water last weekend and it just started to bog down. I put it on the trailer got it started(by pressing the throttle quite a bit) hooked a hose up to it and it idle fine for about 20 mins. I then proceeded to put it back on the water again and within 5 mins it bogged down again. I brougt it home and did a compression test "0" on the mag side and 90 on the pto side. Now my question is could this just be a dirty carb problem? Or does it need another new top end? Rebuilding the top end is my last option I want to make sure I explore every avenue first.
Thanks
