We spent 6 hours on lake yesterday (Sunday). It was an eventful start to say the least. We choose this lake for the primary reason that's its right by a truck stop that has a scale (I had to have trailer weighed to register). Anyway, plan was to drop wife, her best friend, and our daughter off and let them hang on boat while i ran to get trailer weighed. So we get to ramp, single ramp, only 18 spots (3 Handicapped for some reason, and 3 filled just cars, no trailer!!!!<--- that makes me mad). So oh well, going to drop them anyway, maybe one will open when i get back. So put boat in, start port motor fine, starboard wont start. Wife shuts down port and tries starboard first, nothing. Then tries port again, nothing.

Crap. Battery is dead. Im thinking how, i just charged it fully on saturday and its new! I dont question, move boat out of way and anchor at beach and they just play in water while i run to truck stop and get a new battery, didnt mind buying another since i have everything for a dual set-up in my garage except the second battery. So i picked up another marine deep-cycle/starting battery, and will do the dual set-up with switch maybe over 4th, 80 bucks big deal. Got trailer weighed, back to ramp in 25 min.

WOW! what a line. Im 10 vehicles back with a bunch of new people completely unprepared. I sit patiently and wife walks to me and says turn around, ill go find a spot to park, and you change battery and come pick me up. OK, good plan. I turn Jeep and trailer around, and carry battery and tools to boat. Change battery, starts prefect.

Good, easy fix. So we head out onto lake waiting for wifes call, she finally finds a spot, so we ask people at dock she is near if we can pick her up, they say of course so we do.

After all that boat ran great. No problems except i think im taking air at one of the carbon seals. I think its just one because it will plan and when on plane no difference, but getting on plane i hear it sucking air, and not as peppy as it should be. So also this week im going to try to tighten them up to second notch until i have time to replace. Getting up on skis would be hard as is.

anyway, long start, but we persisted and did not ruin our day on the lake. and come to find out, after I charged battery and hooked up on saturday, my wife went out and cleaned the boat. when she did, she hooked the key on so it wouldnt get lost or be in the way, never took it off. My fault tho because i never told her that if you leave it on it will drain battery. Oh well, lesson learned.

A little aggravation.

Sounds like you had a good day at the end of it all.

At my launch they have at least 20 handicap spots and probably 300 parking spots for vehicles with trailers. If a car parks in a trailer spot the local PD ticket. There is probably 75 non trailer parking spots

But... next time out, you will have a double battery, and it wont' be a factor. Just switch it over, and go. With that said... DO NOT accidentaly switch to the "OFF" position on the switch, while the engines are running. The power spike could kill the MPEM. If you bought a GUEST switch, you can switch between the batteries while running to charge a dead one.

And... if there was non-trailer vehicles in the trailer spots... I would be calling over the local rangers. I hate people who do what they want, and block others.

Before I put my battery switch on my boat would kill the battery over time also...has some kind of constant trickle...but after battery switch no issue.

Well crap found problem. Pto boot on port engine is ripped a bit. Grease all over. Went to put in just squeezed out bottom. Bummer. Not too see if boot can be repaired or if I have to repair. Advice?

Thanks.

Yep... buy a new neoprene seal. It will make sure the pump is sealed up nice an tight. Your boat didn't have it from the factory... but it works in all of them.

PN 293200024

You will also need a a touch of RTV to make sure the O-rings are sealed. (you will see them once the pump is off)

If there are shims behind the pump bolts... DO NOT LOOSE THEM, OR GET THEM MIXED UP !!!. That helps align everything.

And finally... Push your stainless ring, to get to the C-clip, BEFORE removing the pump. Otherwise you will never get it apart.

Any tips to getting the reverse gate off port side. Steering linkage off and so is one of the bolts holding bar between two gates but can't get to nut on back of the other to keep from turning....
