I have a couple of Seadoo RFIs that have problems with idle, acceleration and such. I've worked on a few RFIs and beyond the simple I'm wondering if there are any common WIRING issues on these skis. I've tested components 2 and 3 times on these skis, swapped parts.... I mean ALL the parts and the skis still have the same bogging type problems. At present I'm leaning to a wiring harness issue, bad switches or DESS posts. I'll lkely be pulling pins and connectors to have a look.

Just a list of what I have done and I follow this procedure on all the RFIs.

1 test - TPS, Air Pressure Sensor, Air Temperature Sensor, Crank pick up sensor, Rave solenoid, rave valves, check valve to the rave solenoid, fuel pressure pump and regulator, replace filters, rebuild fuel injectors. Test all components at the #4 plug. Check Grounds, check the mag coils, check/replace the rectifier, good battery, compression, Disconnect all gauges up front. Disconnect the Trim module, check fuses. I've swapped out, whole computer both boxes, TPS, Air pressure Sensor, Crank pick, coil and complete throttle body at one point. Pulled the exhaust hose and inspected. Skis still bog... really sound like they are not getting fuel but the obviously are.

To me, it has to be a harness or wire/plug issue but this is on more than one ski. I'm gonna check out the start/stop switch and DESS. I'm not bitching... this is an adventure. I'm gonna find it. LOL Help/input is appreciated. Weird shiznit is good info for me. LOL I'm even thinking about the jet pump resistance but I can turn them both by hand without much trouble. I still like the RFIs and all skis have issues that aren't easy to find at times. Touchdowns everyone... help is appreciated.

I piddled with the ski today and went through the plugs going into the MPEM, cleaned the pin holes individually, used my test DESS post.

I tried to test the Crank pick up's operation but didn't get it done. I removed it and physically it looks OK. the ski starts and runs but don't get it done. Sure seems like a timing issue to me. If it were my ski, I might pull the mag flywheel and have a look at the crankshaft key. The owner told me tried replacing the pick up with no change so I can rule that out... maybe. The crank pick up reports to the MPEM and since I swapped the entire MPEM I can rule out the MPEM as well. The owner told me swapped the coil with no change so.... I'm stuck with what I think it s a timing issue. My lovely Candoo is giving me trouble so they are helping me with that. I don't expect the Candoo to solve any issues.

What I am left with is checking the start/stop switch and looking for a wiring breakdown. I'll be studying the wiring diagram and checking a couple grounds personally. The owner did a dang good job of testing this ski. We've discussed it over the last couple of months.

I have another RFI ski that is doing much the same type of stuff but it is a salt water ski so I really can't get at any parts without breaking bolts. Everything test good with the Candoo as usual. :D :D

Again the ski sarts and runs... won't rev high and bogs constantly. Sometimes you can get it zinging but zingning is easy on the trailer. LOL Sure seems like a timing issue to me. It backfires on occasion and to me that's always timing. I have 3 RFIs in the restore pile... this one is interesting.
