I have been told there are never any dumb questions so........what are the differences between a standard 787 and an RFI 787??

Rfi...?

Your right, there are no dumb questions. How are you going to learn, if you don't ask. I would have to admit, if you used the search engine, you would find this answer a lot faster than waiting on a reply. But, I'll be happy to answer it for you.

The 787cc engine is a 110 hp engine. It's the first Rotax to come out with the power valves and balance shaft. It has twin carbs.

The RFI is a fuel injected 787cc engine. There are two different types of fuel injection used on the Rotax-2 stroke motors. The RFI (rotax fuel injected) and the DI (direct orbital injeted). The DI is considered the worse of the two. The reason is because the DI injection system uses a secondary system for injecting fuel. It has a subsystem that uses a compressor to over come the high pressure of combustion. It injects on the high side. the air injected system uses a fuel injector to deposit a pre-determined amount of fuel into the air injector and then, at the right time, the air injector releases that fuel with a burst of air that atomizes it.

The RFI system only uses a fuel pump, fuel rail and injectors. It injects to the low pressure side of the engine, on the side of the engine at would be at the lowest pressure for the intake stroke..........
