Hello All, can someone please tell me what sort of revs they would expect to see on a 97 GTX (787 Engine) WOT in flat seas ?
Mine doesn't seem to get over about 4300 RPM , but does not show a miss at all.
Sure if the ski goes over a wave it revs higher but not when on a calm sea.

Do you have the right key?

I hear that they make two different colored "keys" for them. When I say "key", I mean the lanyard.

One color is a restricted key that puts a limit on the RPMs, so you can put kids on it and they cannot go over a certain slower speed.

The other color key will let it go all the way up.

Mine sounds like it goes to 6000-7000 rpm, if that helps.

I could be wrong about this, and probably AM, because I don't know which models have this feature. But I just wanted to help rule out the obvious first.

Learning key....

Scott, I don't think the 787 has the "learning" key. I think the first model with that feature was the 951 engines.

A rental unit is "rev limited" for a reduced rpm.

I think he may need to check his RAVE valves. If he says all is smooth, then maybe there is a non-functional slide valve.

Use an allen wrench and pull the two screws from your PTO RAVE and check the carbon build up on it. If it's bad, this may be why your being limited. Before you pull the MAG, either read other posts about how to disassemble it or re-post here and we'll help you out.

Thanks for the Answers, pretty sure that there's no rev limiting key in action, and was wondering about the RAVE Valves as my Ski Mechanic just had them out and cleaned them, also replaced a broken spring on one of them. I had only just bought it so had no comparison as to what it should Rev to.

Is it likely that its just a case of tweaking the Screw setting on the Raves ?
