Were is the resonator and what does it look like? I don't see anything but the muffler, hose and pipe. I haven't got a clue.

Exhaust system.

The resonator is part of the exhaust system. Your model does not have one. You only have the exhaust system.

The resonator is a sound cancelling system where the engines exhaust frequency is greatly reduced as the sound waves bounce into each other. Its a pretty simple system, where as the low pressure waves bounce off the back of the resonator into the incoming high pressure waves, therefore, cancelling each other out.

All the exhaust systems have a type of resonator at the end of the exhaust system. It's normally a larger round area where your water regulator is. In the newer models, they actually designed a "resonator" for the applications.

I thought I posted the results earlier unless I pm'd you eariler.......I hate cold medicine...Your 96 HX doesn't have a resonator or a water flow regulator. It must be the lines or elbows that have a problem. What else it is doing that is getting hot?

Karl

After I blew the lines and elbows out it seems fine. I think it was the loose hose clamp at the end of the pipe were the rubber hose starts. What is the ID for the gas lines? It has the gray ones and I see allot of bad threads about them. I was at NAPA today and they have 1/4" gas line bulk in stock. How many feet do you think I need.

I'm guessing about 14 ft maybe...I would measure as best as you could so you don't get too much. I think it is like 1/4" bring a piece with you so you get the correct size. Check the clamps too, if there bad replace them with stainless steel ones while your at it. If you have an Auto Zone near by, they seem cheaper in price...be sure you tell them "fuel Line"
