Reset Jet Pump Shoe andnew Grate and now cavitates 98 GTXL

I had to reseal the jetpump shoe, added a new intake grate and ski runs ok up to 3000-4000 rpm then after that engine revs freely to redline and ski stops moving. I also changed wear ring too. I was looking at intake grate and it doesn't mount flush on the ride plate like old one, any ideas hear. Ski actually stops accelerating after 4000 rpm.
The pump shoe went in perfect with same shims and shaft is in good shape.

Sounds like air is entering the pump somewhere. Did you make sure to seal up the ride plate real good? The intake grate should fit the exact same as long as its the correct model for your ski.

You might want to check engine alignment, you carbon ring might be the problem due to alignment.

That is a good idea I don't have the alignment tool but will look at it and see if the carbon ring and flange are not flush. I just bought these a few weeks ago too. Thank you guys. I will also look at drive plate to make sure. But I am worried that the pickup grate is wrong because its' for a GSX and I have a GTX 90 and my friend said the GSX should work.

I checked the ride plate, how does air get into the pump from this. I only sealed where the bolts are and where it runs across the pump shoe.

I checked the alignment and the shaft slides easily into and out of the pto, and carbon seal is flush with flange, can the alignment still be an issue?

ok, the jet pump shoe was loose even though I used 3M 5200. Also since I didn't separtes the shoe from the jet pump support, when I installed it, id wasn't fitting snug enough. Will reseal pump shoe and dirive plate tonight. My neoprene seal is now broken, what can I use temporarily on this?

Some people use RTV but it makes removing the pump even harder and its a real pain to clean up

Ok, all fixed and I got great mid range pull on my 98 GTXL. Thanks everyone, it was a combo of jet shoe and drive plate not sealed properly.
