Replies vs. Views

I've only been on the forum a short time, and I'm no statistician, but I've noticed that there seems to be a standard ratio of replies compared to views. Very often it's a 1 to 10 ratio, for example if you see 5 replies, there's probably about 50 views. Has anyone else noticed that or do I just have too much time on my hands?

Of course there are exceptions, and I think the acutal average is less replies, but it's weird how often that ratio appears to hold water!

It happens all the time. Even if you posted a reply, you go back to see what others have posted.
But mostly people will open the thread many times just to to see the latest posts especially from the higher knowledgeable people here.
Some threads are a lot higher than 10 to 1.

Another thing to remember as with all forums there are a ton of lurkers who just read threads and don't actually sign up for the forum. They want to read the information and not post anything, which is perfectly fine.

Also some threads don't really require a reply. Example I posted a new thread this morning which is really a point of information and doesn't necessarily require a reply. And yes you have too much time on your hands. LOL

So, if a non member reads a thread (views) that will add to the view count? I thought the "view count" was only counting views from forum members?

considering you have much free time! i think this is one of the forums i am a member of that has quite a lot of good replies to the topic being asked! the ratio is pretty good here!

The "Ask Jake and Lou" thread had a 35:1 ratio but that was more like driving down the highway and there is a really bad accident with blood everywhere. You don't want to look but you just can't help yourself....

In all honesty I'm the person who once in a whoie glance at the bottom where it says who's currently looking at the page.... Yes I STALK YOU ALL... And there's 4 lurkers to every one member most of the time..

Thanks. For those who haven't voted yet here's some more data for you. Today when I took my muffler out to replace the left sponson I cleaned the muffler with some grease remover and it looked so good I decided to wax it. While I was waxing it this thread came to mind!! But it does look good!

Right now it's about 15:1 views vs posts.

I see nothing wrong with waxing the muffler since it was already out.....but to take it out just to wax it then that's going overboard.

Did it need painting too?

No, the original paint is in fairly good condition except where some fuild was leaking on the side. For some reason it looked blue on my cell phone camera, but it's the stock purple. I was thinking of trying to buff the tank, but decided that would definetly be going too far!

Well so far the poll results show that 80% of the votes say the Get Real has too much time on his hands, and 20% say no. The more interesting fact is that 100% of those voting have too much time on their hands or they wouldn't have bothered to vote. Interesting, very interesting.
