What is the best way to remove the old hand grips from the handlebar? Of course my next question is what type of glue or adhesive do you recommend using to install the new grips? Any suggestions or advice on this process would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Good idea, I will use a utility knife to remove them. Do you have any suggestions on a glue or adhesive to install the new ones?

Thanks,
Mike:)

If close enough, go to bicycle shop...dealership will want 10 buks more for same sh*t.

Grips

i followed the suggestion of another person on here and bought the Schwin grips from wal-mart ( about $ 7 bucks) and then cutoff the very inside rib to make them the right length and put them on , i didnt use any adhesive didnt seem to need it and the grips look and feel good on there :hurray:

forgot to mention the grips are black with a little bit of Dark grey!

Also, you can drop nickel,quarter...etc whatever fits in the grips before installing them, this will eliminate the ends from tearing.

Update - I was about to cut off the old hand grips when on the end of the grip, the center piece of the grip popped off. Inside was a plastic holder with a hex shape in the middle. It was screwed into the handlebar with a hex bolt that held the grip onto the bar. The hex shape plastic cap in the middle fit onto the end of the handlebar and kept the grip from turning. I unscrewed the bolt and removed the grip which had a plastic sleeve inside that slide over the handlebar. Very easy. Now I just hope the new grips go on as easy as the old.

If you have the original Seadoo grips with the bolt on end-caps, the replacement grips are seriously that easy to reinstall.

I was so happy to dump the pink grips on my 96 HX.....the black ones look so much better a la 1997's model.

Yes they are the original OEM grips - prettttttty pink color. I have new teal ones, I know, not as a cool as black, but they match rest of doo.

For the future, can you get bolt on end caps with any non OEM replacement grips? It would be preferred since the grips slide off so easily being they have a plastic sleeve on the inside.

Thanks,
Mike:cheers:
