Replacing Engine In My 1995 Speedster

So I blew one of the engines in my Speedster, I'm getting ready to remove the engine and send it off to Seadoo Engine Shop to be rebuilt and had a few questions.

There's a low profile earless Oetiker band on the boot covering where the shaft goes into the engine. I don't have the special tool necessary to remove that, can I cut it and replace with a hose clamp or zip tie? I didn't see any real clearance issues but I figured it was worth asking.

Also, would it be OK to just slide the engine forward off the drive shaft so I don't have to remove the whole jet pump, or will that create issues?

Thanks in advance!

If there is room to slide it forwards, then yes, you can do that.
Once concern, the re-alignment when you go to instal it. It may not be the same block for that matter. Alignment is critical for longevity of many parts.

When I rebuilt my driveshaft I stuck a flat head screwdriver underneath the tab in the clamp then hit it with a hammer. Popped it right off. Then I just replaced it with a zip tie.
