So today i finally got off my lazy bum and got to replacing the gray fuel lines on my 2001 seadoo gts. Overall it was very simple and straight forward (im used to working in tight and nasty places being as I am a mechanic).

I would have a severe loss of power at full throttle. I would clean the carb and it would run great for about an hour, then go right back to having a power cut. After reading on this forum i decided to just replace all of the gray fuel lines. Found out they were pretty nasty on the inside (never been changed). Im going to clean the carbs again and see if the problem is fixed. I dont think the carbs need a rebuild, since they work great after being cleaned. Oh well, here are some pics of the disgusting lines.

If the 97 is the same as the 99 all you have to do is take the bottom bolt out of the seat shock, remove the gas cap and tilt it up.Just prop the seat up with a stick and there is a rubber cap in the hull, take it off and your looking at the top of the baffle.

i just did this and cleaned my rave valves, this thing starts up without hesitation and revs up nicely, so excited i may go to the lake tonight to see how she runs. also clean your screw off gas filter, mine was nasty

yeah i did that awhile ago, and it was bad, but this time when i checked it out, it wasnt so bad. im anxious to see how it runs.

So went for a ride on the ski yesterday, absolutely no power. The ski would feel great right out of the hole, but quickly bogged down back to idle speed even when I kept the throttle all the way open. fuel lines are new, carbs were cleaned but not taken apart.

any advice?

Filters

There are little filters in carbs that get filled with that green crap!!! When I took mine off they were jammed packed with the stuff.. I aslo had to get rid of my fuel selector switch, that was all gunked up too...

While you have the carbs off to clean the internal filters out, remove the LSA and HSA to clean them out and blow out the jets. If the diaphragms look bad you might want to just do a rebuild on the carbs which is pretty easy

realisticly, could this be the problem? I really dont mind doing this but i dont want to if i dont have to.

At the least I would check your internal filters in the carbs. Mine were completely clogged up even though the fuel filter was perfect. These tiny filters get clogged very easily especially from the gray fuel gunk.
