Replace Gauge Cluster with OEM or Garmin Echomap

My 07 Seadoo Challenger 180 gauge cluster is faded out and needs to be replaced.

Recently I saw someone with a Seadoo Islandia replace their gauges with a Garmin Echomap 93sv. It also comes with a transducer and has a depth/fish finders as well as maps and built in GPS

From my understanding and reading, to monitor your engine and display electronic gauges, you just need to get the adapters that connect to the boats scanner port.

The Garmin setup (9in display) with the adaptors will run around $1,300- $1,500. The new Seadoo gauges are about $600-700 plus programming.

Obviously more expensive but has a large colorful screen with other options/perks. Plus I’m not impressed with Seadoo OEM gauges. Even new I find them hard to read

Apparently the reviews on these units are excellent.

Has anyone here had any experiences with this setup?

I aw the same post on Facebook with the Garmin. It came out awesome.

If you're willing part with twice the cash for the Garmin, I say do it.

That’s the one! I’m moving towards yes on it. It looks so clean and plus it has a bright screen and other features

Where on Facebook was the post. I would like to see how they connected the Garmin to the boat.
Thanks

Post is on the Seadoo Sport Boats FB page from 10/17. Here's a screen shot from my phone:

The Islandia is Merc powered is it not? I would assume that would be an easy adapter. What about us Rotax powered units? I would love to do this to my Speedster, but I would still have to keep the cluster as it is needed to for the ECU.

This will only work on the older 4tecs before they began marrying clusters in 2006. Your boat with the cluster in your first pic, is necessary for the boat to run. To change your boat, you will need to change your boat electronic system to the newer 4tec systems that just use analog gauges and have a separate control box that takes the place of the cluster.

I have 2007 wit analog gauges.... will this work on my speedster200 4tec?

If you have a cluster in your boat, you can't remove it but you can still use this unit. It is merely taking the signal from the diagnostic port the same as BUDS or Candoo. If your cluster has failed and your boat will no longer run, this will not make your boat run again.

Ok good to know. My display gauge is so faded I can’t read it but I assume it’s still sending the signal because the motor runs.

That being said, I’ll just keep it plugged in somewhere maybe behind the dash and install the Garmin unit on the dash. That would work right?

Side note: West Marine has the 94sv on sale for $750 starting today. It’s normally $1150
