Removing RXT-X Front Storage Lid

Hello all!

I have the need to remove the front storage lid and the gas piston, and am having a heck of a time and making no progress. It would appear the piston needs to come off first. Very hard to compress without, likely the right tool. Then remove the lid from the hinges by popping them out. Well, I'm not making a lot of progress. Any advice would be helpful. Has anyone had to do this?

Slightly close the lid to compress the shock a bit. Use wire to wrap from end to end of the shock. Let the lid go. It should tighten on the wire BEFORE the shock fully extends. Now you can unbolt things as it will not be under pressure.

Reassemble and simply snip the wire.
