The purple non-skid material on the swim deck of my '96 Challenger was looking tired and ugly, so I decided to remove it. lt came off easily, but left a thick, hard coating of dried glue. Wonder if any of you know a trick to attack this 16 year-old glue residue.

Thanks.

Okay, updating my own post. What I thought was a big fat layer of dried glue on the hatch, is actually a textured surface. So now the question is, how to I get it white again? It's now yellowed...probably filled with old glue within the texture.

Unfortunately, Gel coat is porous. So... it stains. The boat in my avatar has a big stain on the swim deck because the last owner sat an old battery on it when we were checking over the electronics. By the time I got home... the stain was set. Also... my last boat had a big stain in the passenger compartment, because the previous owner let water sit in it.

So... you can try bleach... but if you want it white... you will have to paint it. My solution is to put hydro turf over it.

Closing the loop on this thread, I went after the glue infested textured surface on the engine hatch with Comet and a nylon scrub brush. Worked perfectly. I'll polish and wax to complete the job.
