removing mpem

How do I remove the mpem from my 93 xp do the wires just pull out after you loosen the cap nut? Or is their some secret that I'm missing. I have given the battery cable a gentel pull but do not want to exert to much pressure until I am sure.

I'm not sure if their the same but on my 96 gti that whole box slides out of a holder and then has two tabs on either side use slide the covers apart and the mpem is inside loosening the black caps only lets you remove the wires from the box after it open for replacement or whatever.
