I just started a top end rebuild on my 2000 Sportster Le (947 2 stroke) . Got to the point of separating the cylinder jug from the exhaust. I am trying to remove the tuned pipe cone to access the 8 cap screws on the exhaust manifold.
The manual says there are 3 allen head bolts ( which I can see easily and get to) and one nut to remove. (part 10 in the exhaust parts list) I cannot see it or feel this nut , it must be underneath the cone somewhere. It is not even clear in the parts list where it is or what it is attached to. There must be some way to get at it but how??
The manual says
"As a first step, torque Allen screws no. 9 at tuned
pipe head flange to 25 N•m (18 lbf•ft).
NOTE: Also, torque nut no. 10 to 18 N•m (13 lbf•ft)
using the polygonal key (P/N 529 035 505)."
and that polygonal key would be a box wrench??? Note: wrench in French = clé = key
Under the photo it says "Torque Allen screws and nut (not shown) to 25 N•m (18 lbf•ft)"
Not shown? No kidding!!
Im sure there is a simple answer to this. Need help
Thanks
