I need some opinions on whether to rebuild this boat or part it out.
I've acquired a 96 Speedster with the dual 787s. It's got a very nice hull, but the upholstery is shot. It has one of the 787 motors, but everything on the exhaust side has been taken off and is laying in the boat. The other motor is MIA. It has 1 of the 2 pumps. The MPEM is there, but I do not have the key, so I don't have any way to test it.
So what to do? I already have a Challenger 1800 that is my family boat. If I were to rebuild the Speedster, I'd likely bring it down to my family's beach house in Mexico and run it down there and use the 1800 here.
Anyone know of a way to test an MPEM without a DESS key? If the computer is shot that pretty much tells me to part it out. If it's good, will the MPEM from a dual 787 Speedster work in a Challenger 1800? Maybe I should keep the MPEM as a backup. If I were to rebuild, I'm guessing the best method would be to look for a PWC with the same 787 and transfer over the engine and pump.
