Recommendations for High Gloss Wax

I have a 96 Speedster that I purchased at a steal at the end of last season and now have mechanically sound. The exterior has been neglected over the years. Have removed all the severely faded top side decals. The gel coat is heavily oxidized. Tried buffing and that basically did nothing. In the process of wet sanding with 400 grit paper and it is getting the finish smooth. Going to go over it with a buffer afterwords. Looking for recommendations that will make the finish really shine afterwords.

Use a milder rubbing compound or a polishing compound then wax it.
