One year warranty, and they let you ship your engine to them, swap all the parts over, time it, and send it back.

Price is pretty good, even when you factor in $100-150 to ship your blown engine to them.

and 100% trader rating.

Anyone hear anything good or bad about these guys, or can you recommend someone similar, preferably closer to TX?

sounds like a good, deal, guys got 100% feedback, but only 128 deals

id make sure you get a signed legal copy of the 'warrenty'

Take a look at this link: http://www.sbtontheweb.com/

They remanufacture pwc engines. They have a very good reputation...do a forum search on SBT I am sure there will be lots of results. I have never personally used them but I have heard from a lot of satisfied customers that they are great.

Let's not get cocky...:boxing_smiley:

I have only been in the pwc world for almost a year, and never had to deal with new engines until now.

Called them and their deal sounds very good. Called the other guys and their deal sounds good too, and better shipping.

I actually like the deal of the ebay guys better. They will take your engine and swap over anything you don't know how to swap, and time it and have it ready to bolt in, for $800. And says he can ship to me free, and I can ship to him for $60-65.

I am always a little skeptical when you find something that seems a little bit too good. I have never heard anything bad about SBT.....I have heard quite a few ebay horror stories...

I called SBT and the guy I talked to was a hoot! That alone is worth an extra hundred or two...to get good service, a guy who will listen to your story about finding half-a-cup of cast aluminum chunks on top of your pistons (and just chuckling a little, not becoming offensive by laughing his arse off!), and willing to discuss my options with me. They will likely be the way for me to go.

They have a "premium" setup--same engine, 2 years warranty (instead of 1 year) and all the seals and gaskets to mate it up to my stuff. It is another $300. Sound like a good deal for the extra stuff?

Do it Scoop, it will be worth it. That warranty is "no fault" so how could ya go wrong.

Scott, the sbt company is a big company and has been around for some time now. The ebay company might be a fly by night...buyer be ware!

Question is moot...

I just bought a New In Box 787. I hope the guy that I was bidding against isn't a member, We had a pretty nasty e-bay bidding battle there at the last 30 minutes, and he probably won't like me. He also doubled the price of the engine I bought...:ack:

Scott I seen that you bought that 787 engine I hope that he is a beter person than the last person I bought from. That was my first bad ebay experiance and I hope that you do not have to go through what I had to go through. If that is a new in box engine with both flywheels and charging systems and oil pump and raves and so forth than you probly got it for half price. I sure hope it works out that way. good luck Robin :hurray:

Just so you know, A lot of crap happens on e-bay. If there is a reserve, sometimes members friends will keep bidding till the reserve is met by another bidder so the item can sell. Been There Done that.

very true:agree: allso when you make a bid do not bid untill the last 45 seconds and bid the max amount that you are willing to bid this can save you hundreds of dollars if not thousands in some cases.

I usually wait until the last minute (literally) and bid what I want, but I really wanted this engine and I have been shopping around and the price seemed reasonable even if it approached $1000.

I was looking at trading mine in for a rebuild, but I really would like a new one and be able to keep my old one to rebuild (or at least tear down to see how they work on the inside) or use for parts, and didn't want to lose it for a core. THAT was worth another 3 or 4 hundred bucks to me.

I am praying that New In Box means it is in working condition.

Just for future reference I used SBT for a rebuild and it was flawless.

The customer service was great, they called me up to confirm everything and make sure I purchased all the right things.

My rebuild came to me in 4 days, from Clearwater FL to Columbus Oh and I shipped it back no problems. I would recommend for the future.

It looked brand new to me but looked as it had been in storage 5 to 10 years with minor humidity but the engine did apear to be completely sealed to protect all internal parts I just hope that the box reads rotax or what ever a new engine would read if you bought one new. If it is as described you can not buy one of these any more at least I would not think so but I can be wrong.

As soon as I get it, I will be lubing it up and checking the cylinders to make sure there is no surface rust. At least it is fixable if there is some rust. Unlike the one in the boat now...

Can someone point me to a thread about breaking the engine in?

Hey scoop...meant no offense, just "assumed", with you hav'n been around the site for awhile, didnt think was your first rodeo, knowledge of SBT.

Honestly, I have two relatively "new" motors (low hours) and except for minor issues like carb settings and rave valves, I never thought I would need to be shopping for new or rebuilt engines, so I have just skipped reading any threads about that topic. So when SBT was mentioned, I was completely oblivious...

Not anymore

I just troubleshot my engine down to blown piston rings in the number 2 cylinder, are these feasible options for me, the sea-doo mechanic said just go with sbt, not to get it rebuilt. Any ideas?
