I just got my ski at the end of last summer so I only got to ride it a few times. I flipped it over once and the whole hull filled with water. So I had to swim it back to the ramp. I really dont plan on flipping the ski but there is always a chance and I really dont want to deal with having a ski full of water again.

Yes you do need that. Without it, your hull will fill with water as you described.

If there are mods done to the ski would it still be ok to put one on? The mods that I know of are rossier exhaust, water injection, some msd box, filters, maybe carbs, high compression head, maybe bored out, I think that is it but I really don't have a clue what else.
