After just about losing the rear hatch last year, when the plastic release snapped after hitting a good size wake that holds the drawn pin down... with a slight panic from the oversized “air brake “ and a little research, I decided to go with electric screw actuators, 600lbs of down force along with 400lbs of up force, this keeps it very secure..eBay has these set ups with a remote and control module for less than 80 bux, cheaper than the gas shocks..probably thinking what if the battery goes dead?...well I ran a constant hot to the front with a 3 position key switch, one position is for main battery, second is for the backup battery which is a simple 12v drill battery, and the 3rd position of course is off, this also helps to keep it secure..with the right measurements you’ll be able to use the existing lid mounts, I’ll see if I can find the link to eBay later today with the actuator set up I used..just a peace of mind when bouncing all over the place keeping things secure!!
