Rear electrical box

I ran into a small issue while checking over my 2001 GTI. I pulled the cover off the rear electrical box and can not for the life of me get it back on. The gasket fell out and I placed it back into what I thought was the groove for it. However when I do this the darn thing will not snap back on the box. does that gasket go inside that groove or does it go around the outside some how ? I looked at the parts pic but that didnt help, it shows the gasket part but not where it is placed exactly. :ack:

Remove that rubber seal from thet groove you put it into. Place it over the lower part of the box on the outside, spray it with a little bit of silicone spray lube and it'll pop right into place.

What you did was actually close off the recess groove that the lip on the lower portion of the box slides into. As soon as you remove it you'll see what I'm talking about.

That solved the issue. As soon as it popped into place is when the "Gee your totally dumb" feeling hit me lol
