i have a gtx rfi 2002, i took the rave valves apart on the manifold to clean the sliding part and noticed they were thick black sludge and the air tubes coming from them were blocked with this black sludge i have cleaned these now, can anyone tell me what the rave valves do and what they would do to the performence of the ski if they was full of black sludge and the air tubes blocked.
also what should the compression be on this ski.
any help would be appreciated.

They open up with higher rpms, increasing exhaust flow, thereby increasing horsepower.

If they did not open, you would have a machine that did not take off fast, seemed to be sluggish, and I would guess it wouldn't get to max rpms.

I have only had one go out at a time, and it was not a fun day. Slow riding, and wouldn't pop out of the hole too easily.

Mine did the exact same thing, but I only had runny oil in my hoses up to the solonoid, so you will also need to clean it and make sure it still works ok.
