RAVE Valve Spring Broken

I discovered on an end of season check that the spring on one of the RAVE exhaust valves was broken. I do not really understand what those valves do but I presume the spring needs to be to spec to allow proper operation.
Could this be the cause of the engine "missing/bogging" under heavy acceleration e.g. accelerating when pulling a couple of tubes up on plane. She runs pretty well otherwise, even when accelerating with no extra load.
Any comments appreciated

Yes, that valve basically changes the engine timing to allow more bottom end performance then open to allow more top end performance. Eventhough 2-strokes don't have valve timing like a 4-stroke.

With the spring broken the valve will be open too early and cause a loss of bottom end performance which will be worse under heavy load.

Get a new correct spring.
