I have a 1999 seadoo challenger 1800. tonight i noticed one of the red caps was sticking all the way out. not screwed in at all. i checked it out and realized it was melted. i took the cap off and noticed the diaphragm was melted as well. the nut was gone. i noticed the spingy action the other valves has is gone. my questions are: what does this mean? i am going out of town to a lake house for a week and was planning on taking the boat. Is this going to be ok for a week. I have no idea how long its been like this. took it out today for a short while and it ran fine.

No... it's not OK. If that RAVE comes loose... it will drop down into the engine, and can destroy it.

Basically, the seal in the stem has given out, and the hot exhaust gasses got up into the top, and melted everything. Pop that RAVE assembly out, and replace the melted parts, and the O-ring on the RAVE stem.

Thanks. Is there a quick solution I can do to prevent that from falling into the engine? Is it easy to come by those part?

As the good Dr. said. NO. No quick solution, DO NOT run the engine until you remove, clean, and rebuild/replace those rave valves. The engine will not run right without the rave valves working, and if the rave slides down into the cylinder, you WILL destroy the engine.

The parts are available from almost any parts place, and they are easy to rebuild or you can buy whole new assembles.

Hey Capt. Steve

Haven't seen you on in a while, I missed the bouncing boobs. You've got the best avatar on the forum.
