rave valve play/clearance

I recently bought a 96 gtx with 197 hours for 1200$.As far as I can tell the rave valves have never been cleaned or serviced, as the paint has not been cracked.
If they are worn too much, what kind of play would be too much?I expect extra heavy deposits because the guy was using(gasp) tcwc3 oil all its life
but i do have 140 lbs on both cylinders cold!!

Just clean the carbon off and put them back in...usually too much carbon will keep them from opening properly and you won't get the full rpm's because they are sticking, with all the carbon build up. You shouldn't have a clearance problem with only 197 hours...

if no resistance to removing them, then when you clean them up, you'd think then something missing, for how much play is in there.
