Is the red cap an adjustment where should it be? In or out clockwise or counter clockwise going to clean valves and i need to know
thanks kevin

By the book....

You should have it flush with the outer cap. BUT... I find that on the older engines (with old/weak springs) they run better turned all the way in.

Did not know that worth a test.

On my 99 spx, they were turned in, I made them flush. I just picked up my bros 97 and they are turned in as well. Weird!

It's not a big deal to play with the adjustments. If they open too soon... you will have a "Bog" in the middle. (Won't pull as hard to the top) AND.... if they open late.... you will have a hesitation. (The RPM's will hang, and all the sudden, they will jump)

The idea is to make the transition as smooth as possible.

My personal XP has a very "dirt bike" feel to it. It will run a little rough at about half throttle, and at around 5000 RPM.... but as soon as you smack the throttle open... it clears out, and takes off. If I turned the adjusters out a little, I would make the transition smoother, but I would give up the strong mid pull.

i have the 99 gtx lmt that the engine was rebuilt, two differant dealers looked at it and gas line replaced. carbs looked at twice. acc pump circut ok. any way it just will not run at mid range speed 4000 to 6000 rpm so you said that might be sticky rave valves going north this weekend picking up new gaskets on the way and going to clean them
thanks for all the help hope it works
