Im getting this god awful vibrating ringing rattle sound coming from the impellor housing. It only rattle at idle, any sort of throttle it goes away. Could this be the impellor rattling because of a worn wear ring? Or maybe a bearing for the shaft. 1997 Seadoo GTX 787.

Thanks
Tim

I have read on this forum, that some of them rattle, when out of the water. however, where the line is between Acceptable, and unacceptable, I don't know for sure.

If it were doing it in the water, then I'd say that it for sure is in trouble.

But, I don't know where the line is out of the water.

My gtx used to do 55-56mph Now its doing 50-52mph tops. Wear ring?
The engine has been completely rebuilt ground up, 7800rpm.

The rattle is normal for Doos. Your speed loss may be due to the impeller but the speedos are not accurate enough to use as a gauge. You ought to look up into your pump and see what its condition is.

Who rebuilt the engine?

I rebuilt the engine. Ive done 4 so far :hurray:

However i havnt removed a pump before. Sure it cant be too bad, im just thinking because its a 97 and i know the wear ring has never been replaced it might just be a good time to do that.

The rattling just sounds odd, its intermitant with low rpms.

My friend actually got a $50 seadoo becuase of a huge rattle, its an older one but hey, the guy who owned it before thought the motor went, we brought it home fired it up and it sounded awful the we realised an actual chunk of wear ring was hitting the impeller. Could be wear ring or pump. hope I am any help.

does that have a reverse flap? I have also seen wear in the sterring nozzle and it vibrates out of water
