Hi all,
I have a 1997 GTX that I acquired earlier this year and did a bunch of work on to get it running. It has worked great all summer until the other day when I had a strange no start issue. It happened when my kids were out in our ski boat and it broke down (battery cable issue) so I zipped out on the Seadoo to tow them in. It started and ran perfectly. When I got to them I shut it off while hooking up the tow line and then when I went to restart it I got nothing. No click, no attempt to turn over, nothing. The gauges came on when I put the lanyard on the post but nothing else. So.....we flagged down a pontoon boat and got the double tow of shame home.
The next morning I went to see if I could figure out the Seadoo issue and it fired right up normally and has multiple times since. My problem is I don't really trust it now. My question is; what is the most likely culprit to cause a totally random no start? Dess post, stop/start button, solenoid, corrosion? In your experience is there often one thing that causes that more than another? I don't want to fire up the parts cannon if I can avoid it.
Thanks in advance if you have any suggestions.
