My Seadoo XPL ('98) came with a yellow lanyard. The ski has Coffman pipe, PPG intake and headwork, etc. We GPSed it at 58MPH yesterday. Is this about right? My friend told me that they had a black lanyard on the market that opens the ski up balls to the wall, is this true? If so, how muxh are they ans what do I need to look get (any peticular type or part number)? Thanks!

I have never heard of a lanyard that will make your ski faster but if you do find one that does be sure to shoot ma a pm:willy_nilly:

Lol, yeah that is what I thought too. The guy sort of sounded like SeaDoo made three different lanyards, one for beginners, one intermediate, and one for full power. I thought the Lanyard was just to shut the ski off in case of bail, didn;t think there was any sort of chip or anything in it.

One the newer models they have the lanyards programmed. Mine came with two, a learning key, and a standard key. The learning key restricts the rpm to about 5000-5200, while the starndard key has the normal redline restriction. I dont believe that your model had a learning key, but i may be wrong.
