I got 2006 Nissan Murano FWD (3500lb recommended) and need to tow 2011 Challenger 180SE. I would be driving half way and take a rest for 3-4 hours and then start again. Please let me know if there's any issue or I need to buy anything special to tow this boat on my vehicle.

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe the boat weighs in around 2,000 lbs, not sure about the trailer, but you are getting close to the 3,500 recommended, I would avoid driving a route with steep grades, or at times of high winds. Make sure to check all the tires, boat & truck) for air pressure, and grease up the trailer wheel bearings until it seeps out the rear...It's a simple yet often neglected item that can save you stranded on the road side with a seized trailer wheel. Good luck!

Timeman, The owner barely used the 2011 trailer since he got river/lake connected to unit. According to the owner, Trailer is like a brand new but I like the idea of air pressure and grease up the trailer wheel bearings.

I'm driving from Southbend, Indiana to Atlanta and I don't think there's any steep grades or high winds area I would encounter.

Gross weight: No tower. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2,843 lb. / 1,290 kg

Here in oz anything over 1100 kg they make you install a breaking system on the trailer before it can be complied and registered on the road. If this will be your daily tow vehicle I would reccomend getting the trailer upgraded.

I agree with the comments timeman mentioned. Going from Southbend to ATL, you will probably experience plenty of nice size hills. Make sure your transmission fluid is good in your Murano and not due for a change. I pull my Speedster 150 with a 2WD 4Runner with the V8 and towing package, meaning it comes with a transmission cooler. It pulls that boat great, although I really don't have to pull it often as the boat stays in a boat house. My dad has a highlander and I have pulled my boat with it with no problem at all. There again, I have not gone long distance like you. I think that it could be done, but I would not be in any hurry if I were you. If you have another option, like a pickup or little larger SUV, I would go that route, if not, it is what it is. Good luck.

dothadoo.. Thank you so much for the information.

One of my friend got 2000 Grand Jeep Cherokee Limited edition V6 but doesn't have towing package. He insisted to get Hitch installed if that vehicle can handle it. I gotta check owner manual for that.

oh my cousin stopped by and he said "moron' you are not counting my 2001 Toyota sequoia as a workhorse for this type of load. I think that'd do my work.

The Sequoia has the same V8 as my 4runner and will pull your boat with no problem at all. Good luck with the trip. Make sure your cousin has the adapter for the trailer lights hookup and the correct size trailer ball. I believe my trailer requires a 2" ball, but you may want to double check that with the current owner. Have fun with your new boat. BTW, do you ride over at Lake Lanier?

dothadoo,

Yes, I currently go to Lake Lanier or South Carolina (since my cousin lives there) with my friend since He got Jet Ski. But Once I get a boat, We are planning to explore Chatuge Lake and spend some days there.

I'm currently waiting for the owner to tell me which day is the best for him since he got lien on this boat and I want to transfer the money into his loan account and he would put in rest of the balance. His bank is in NC and boat is in other state, so I can't do local bank deal.

I just towed a 05 Challenger 180 from Indy to Cape Coral, FL with a Pontiac Torrent FWD.

Towed flawlessly, other than the Sea-Doo cover tearing at the seams, and getting a flat trailer tire on the ride home. :)

I towed 2011 sea doo 180 se from Arkansas to Atlanta with Murano. It went thru hills flawlessly. It took me 11 hours from greers ferry lake to Atlanta Ga.

I now have a 2013 Mazda CX-5 2.2lt skyactiv diesel as my tow rig, am yet to tow anything with it but will let everyone know how it goes.
