Hi, everyone:

I got a 1998 Seadoo Sportster 1800. Both engines run great and start right on, but when I shut down the both engines for hour or so on the water. One of the engine is very hard to start, the other engine start right away. It never had that problem before, but the problem getting worse and worse. Any idea??

Thanks

Run the blower for a couple of minutes and see if restart improves. ( clean air)
If that doesn't fix the problem jack the throttle 1 time a try.

If the two suggestions above do not help then could be time for needles and seats in the carbs. They could possibly be worn and leaking back.

I have a 99 Sportster 1800. The carbs are likely your pain point...since it happens on restart, my bet is your carb is leaking fuel after shut down, causing the boat to flood. Next time it happens retry with zero choke, and full throttle. If it starts much easier, I was right.

If it's the carbs, a carb rebuild will fix it. There is a place online you can buy a BRAND NEW carb for $199. I normally avoid the hassle and buy one new. you can then rebuild the old one at your convenience, or mail it out to rebuild to have it ready for next time it happens in a couple of years. I have not been able to properly rebuild one yet, although I consider myself pretty handy with a wrench, and I have not found anyone willing to rebuild for less than $125 once you add in all parts and shipping costs.

Good Luck!
