Question about turning right at high speeds

So on this 2010 Challenger 210, I have found at times under higher speeds that the boat just does not want to turn to the right no matter where the wheel is it seems to want to go straight. Needles to say this can be scary considering some of the turns I have to navigate. I never have any issues at slower speeds and never when turning to the left.

I get I can slow down, but coming from a vessel with a MERC power plant, this is all new to me and I have never felt this sensation before and the thought of slowing down to turn seems "odd".

So my question is, is this normal? I know that the cable was replaced a few years back and I have read about the cable sleeve issues, which I don't seem to have. My mind says this is an issues but being new to this propulsion type, I am just not sure.

Any advice or words of wisdom are welcome.

Thanks in advance

We have a 2012 and have experienced this on occasion. I believe the majority of the time the wind and current factored into it greatly.

We're taking ours out tomorrow. I'll do a few runs to see if ours does it and we missed something.

I have found this is a characteristic of a jet boat, now I find it happens left or right. I have had Sea Doo jetskis for years anything from a 1995 to a 2012. A jet boat is a great big jetski and they handle nearly identical, giving me familiar territory on my first full-size boat and the reason for purchasing a jet boat over a traditional stern drive. Jet boats tend to skate around a little and can make some feel uneasy if your not used to it. Turning is very different and can give you the feeling/characteristic you mentioned.

There is a single cable. So if the cable housing and or a cable anchor breaks off the boat you loose the ability to steer at higher speeds as the housing flexes instead letting the inner cable push and pull as it should.

Check you steering cable VERY well. Pretty sure you will find that is your issue.

MY FIRST BOAT WHEN I WAS 18 was a jet drive. the nozzle didn't turn like todays jets . it had deflectors after the jet to turn. at full speed it would make a gradual turn unless you cut the throttle then immediately hit the throttle again with a thrust turning the boat , yess scarry at first when you had to avoid something
