Not sure what the part is called, in the engine bay on either side is a barrel that the exhaust goes through, each one is held down by a rubber strap. Each strap has two posts they attach to which are riveted into the engine bay floor. On the right side one of those posts have broken off and now that barrel is not strapped down at all. How do I have to reattach that post to the engine bay floor? Can I screw into that? What I've done now is wrap that strap all the way around that barrel and attached both ends onto one post. Am I ok run like that? The boat is a 2003 seadoo speedster bombardier.

Try to post some pictures of the broken item, close up and and overall of the assembly. It will help greatly in assessing a repair option.

Yep... a picture eis worth 1000 words.

BUT............

The part you are talking about is the "Water Box" or simply... "The muffler". It really cant go anywhere since there is a foam cradle under it... and it's mounted with rubber hoses. SO, I'm sure the way you have the strap routed will be fine, BUT... I would try to re-attach the little metal hook. As far as how to do that... well... it depends on what you find in the fiberglass. I've never had one off, so I don't know if there's any wood back there for a screw to hold on to. You may just have to clean the section very well... patch the fiberglass with some resin... and then use a larger rivet to get it to bite.

Here is a pic of the part I'm talking about. On one side part 18 is broken off, not sure how long it was like that but that barrel isn't strapped down at all now. What I did as a temporary fix is get a longer bungee and connect both ends of the strap to part 19. Parts 18 and 19 both are riveted into the floor of the engine bay. What can I do to correct the issue? I understand those barrels are meant to move around a little as even the side that is strapped down correctly you can still move it by hand so it must bounce around while you're riding around.
