Question about battery

Im not sure but are you thinking about boosting it to get it going and then wondering if it will run on your dead battery? Don’t boost it form a boost pack or from a running vehicle

Well, I was thinking if I bring along one of those USB booster and in case I'm dead in the water, I can at least jump start it get back to the boat ramp.

Also, it was cranking but wouldn't start this morning, it wasn't on a trickle charger for a week. Charged it for about three hrs and it fired right up

Don’t boost it ever, you got lucky and got away with it but if you continue to boost it, it will bite you in the ass and you will be needing a new MPEM. If it’s cranking good and not starting you have another issue. When you do get it started check your voltage at the battery to see if the charging system is working, if it’s charging while it’s running and you have a good battery then you won’t have anything to worry about but keep a paddle on board just in case

Do not use a boost pack on these ever and don't charge it while connected to the ski.
If the battery is bad or questionable replace it.

Meaning disconnect the battery cables while charging it? Even when charging with a tiny solar charger from HF or trickle charger?

These are the numbers
After 3 hr charge, 12.7 v
Running at idle, 13.6 v. So I think the charging system is good. But I doubt the rpm is accurate. I'm using one of these tiny tach that you wrap the wire around the spark plug lead and set it to 2 stroke 2 cylinders. And it says I was idling at 3300 rpm. I wasn't even touching the throttle.

Compression
Cyl 1 near the mag 162
Cyl 2 160

What should my idle rpm be?

Answering my own question, service manual says 3k when out of water.
So am I supposed to dial it down, never done it before, anything to watch out for?

No, just turn the idle screw an 1/8 of a turn. Can’t remember if it’s in or out though. Either way you will know
