Question about applying Hydro Turf

I have two GTXs and a '96 XP. The factory mats look to be riveted on. The GTX I picked up last weekend is missing the mats, so I'm going to buy a HydroTurf kit for that ski. That ski has a bunch of rivet holes where the mats used to be. I also see that the other two ski's mats are held down with small rivets. Do those holes need to be plugged or covered with silicone before putting down the hydro turf?

It rained yesterday. The ski without the mats allowed the rain water to get inside the ski. I just want to make sure I don't have a problem after I install the HydroTurf.

pop the rivets with drill or screwdriver/chisel/hammer

fill with Marine-tex (thats my method) or some form of epoxy.. do not use silicone.
don't get silly with it, just enough to fill the hole, the first time I did it, i slathered it on like I was making a peanut butter sammich, and that was a huge mistake :)

buy self adhesive mats, (extra) or if you decide to do your own glue, use dap wood weld red can.
