Question about air intake.

Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well! Firstly, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has helped me in the past when I posted here. It was so very greatly appreciated.

Recently I met a guy who has the same jet ski as I do (97 gsx which has the 787). He showed me all his modifications and man he had a lot done. Anything that could be powder coated was and anything that couldn't be was painted. Needless to say his engine looked absolutely gorgeous. But there was one thing that caught my eye. He had air intake filters on his air intake. The intake resembled the type of intake filter used in cars for example the K&N filter people use for greater airflow for their engines. Obviously it's aftermarket but I'm wondering, does it actually increase the performance of the ski? Also I'd really like to add this to my ski. So my last question is, does anyone have experience with this setup and if so what do I need to do to apply it to my ski.

they look good, but on an otherwise stock system they accomplish little except greater accessibility to carb adjustment screws. However if you plan on making modifications down the line, these would be necessary, and there is no downside that i'm aware of except a slightly increased chance of water ingestion even with outerwears which could be bad but that never stopped me.

my personal favorites are PROK. But there are several options and I believe all brands would require re-jetting of the carbs to accommodate them.

Labor?

one positive note is that even used they are always worth $60 so your not throwing your money away and rejetting would all for inspection of carb's.

If your ski is running spot on right now and your happy with its performance, why mess with it?
